Description of Your Photo
The South Bank Lion also known as the Coade Stone Lion is located on the south side of Westminster Bridge. Coade stone is a ceramic material, an artificial stone, created by Mrs Eleanor Coade (Elinor Coade, 1733–1821), and sold commercially from 1769 to 1833. The Lion was originally red and stood above the entrance arch of the Lion Brewery near Hungerford Bridge. The Brewery was destroyed in WWII, but the lion survived.
Tips and Tricks
- No real tricks here. I was lucky to get the beautiful cloud formations which I think gives the lion even more a sense of majesty.
