Cons

  • Limited vegetarian choice
  • "The Smoking Garden of Eden" is in an alleyway that's used as a toilet

Description

Guide Review - Adam and Eve Pub

I remember this pub before it was run by Geronimo Inns and I like what they've done with the place. It still looks like quite a traditional pub from the outside but inside has contemporary bright wallpapers including pink and purple patterns and prints of cars.

There are different seating options and table sizes: tables for two, nooks for six and more, high stools at tables in the middle of room, etc. All the tables are very solid wood with bright cushions on the seats.

One side of the pub is for drinking and the other is dedicated to dining, although you can dine anywhere - it's just a matter of space. I visited for lunch and the funky music was at the right level to still chat with friends.

There's an alleyway next to the pub and this can offer outdoor dining in fine weather. It's also the "The Smoking Garden of Eden" which sounds fun but it's a popular area with homeless people and can end up smelling like a toilet down there.

British Fayre
The food on offer is very British with main courses such as fish & chips or lamb casserole priced around £10. Desserts are also quite traditional with apple crumble and custard or rice pudding and jam priced around £5. The vegetarian option was winter veg stew with cheddar cobblers which was warm and filling.

Conclusion
I enjoyed my lunch here and would be pleased to return again, either for drinks or another meal.
