Tube Lines
Twelve Different Colors

The London Underground has twelve color-coded lines. It may seem confusing when you first try to find your way, but with practice it can be quite straightforward. Pick up your free tube map at any station, or visitor information office. Below is a list of the tube lines, their colors, where they start and finish, plus useful interim stops.

  • Bakerloo Line (Brown)
    FROM: Harrow & Wealdstone
    TO: Elephant & Castle

    • Piccadilly Circus
    • Waterloo
  • Central Line (Red)
    FROM: Hillingdon

    • Oxford Circus
    • Tottenham Court Road
  • Circle Line (Yellow)
    (As you would expect from the name, it's a circle, so there's no beginning or end.)

    • Tower Hill
    • Embankment
    • Victoria
    • Notting Hill Gate
  • District Line (Green)

  • East London Line* (Orange)

* The East London Line closed in December 2007 for major refurbishment and to allow extensions to be built to Dalston, Crystal Palace, and West Croydon. The line will reopen in 2010 with a further extension to Highbury & Islington to open in 2011.
