English National Ballet has fabulous performances planned for the Christmas 2006 season at the London Coliseum. There will be three productions: The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, and Giselle.

The Nutcracker

8-24 December 2006

The Nutcracker has been part of the English National Ballet's Christmas repetoire for 56 years. The story is of Clara, her Nutcracker doll and the magician, Drosselmeyer, and their adventures in the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of the Sweets.

Alice in Wonderland

28 December 2006 - 7 January 2006

English National Ballet's production of Alice in Wonderland was last seen in 2000 and has been updated for this season. Be prepared for innovative choreography and breathtaking illusions with a Tchaikovsky musical score. The costumes, by Sue Blane, are as wonderful as the Tenniel artwork in the original book. On a personal note, Alice in Wonderland is my favorite children's story so I couldn't be more excited about seeing this performance.

Giselle

10-13 January 2007

This delightful production of Mary Skeaping's Giselle is coming back to London after a 15 year wait. Giselle is about a peasant girl who falls in love with the handsome Duke Albrecht and her subsequent betrayal. English National Ballet are calling this "the ultimate romantic ballet."
