It's a story all the locals will want to tell you about. A London taxidermist was given a walrus from Hudson Bay, Canada to stuff back in 1870. He had no idea what this animal should look like so he filled the skin tightly! You can see the lines of the skin where it should be hanging in folds! The walrus came to Britain in 1886 for the Great Colonial Exhibition and joined the Horniman Museum collection in 1893.
