From Laura Porter, About.com

There is a view point outside Tower Hill Underground Station so you can look across at The Tower of London on the other side of the road. (Tour review below)

The Tour
The tour starts at Tower Hill tube Station on a viewing platform opposite the medieval castle: The Tower of London. (Note: there is no step-free access to this raised area.) The Guide starts by explaining some of the history of London, which is a very good idea as it is such an old city. The Guide also explains that the City can be deserted at the weekends as it is a business area, not a residential area. My tip would be to do this walking tour on the weekend as I went out early on a weekday morning but it was still very noisy and very busy with people and traffic. I found it hard to hear some of the audio tour and had to keep replaying directions.

From the viewing platform, to the left, you can see a Roman wall which marks the edge of the City, and to the right you can see Trinity Square Gardens where executions used to take place.
