"Santa Claus is coming to town"
This shows the living room of a young family, and here we see the usual debris after the presents have been opened on Christmas morning. Despite several reminders, the children's mother is doubtful that the children will remember which of their friends and relations sent which gifts, and is dreading having to write Thank you notes without knowing what present was sent.
There is no doubt which gifts are from her husband's mother - they are the brightly colored plastic toys and the selection packs of chocolate which are proving to be very popular. The children's grandma is apparently immune to helpful hints that learning toys or useful presents like books or wooden building blocks would be suitable. The children are now running around making a dreadful racket and eating too many sweets before lunch.
As well as trying to calm them down, the children's mother is keeping an eye on the cooking, as the tricky part of getting the turkey, potatoes, Brussels sprouts and all the trimmings ready at the same time is approaching. Her woman's magazine did suggest an alternative to the usual Christmas dinner, but she likes to keep some traditions going, and she has been a little more adventurous with her table decoration this year.
