The Bottom Line

The Selfridge is very centrally located and initially appears rather plush but is actually getting a bit jaded.
Pros
  • Very central location.
  • Clean comfortable rooms.
  • Friendly and helpful staff.
  • Usually, good quality food in the restaurant.
Cons
  • A little jaded on closer inspection.
  • 'Standard rooms' mean just that.
  • Restaurant somewhat expensive for the 'minimalist' food served.

Description

Guide Review - The Selfridge Hotel Review

The Selfridge is very centrally located, and rather plush in the reception and public areas, although a little jaded on closer inspection.

The standard rooms were just that, but not as small as I was led to believe they would be having read reviews on tripadvisor.com. Again a bit tatty when you looked into the corners, but clean, and comfortable.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful, which I also hadn't expected after reading the reviews.

The food in the restaurant was of very good quality, although minimalist, but the prices were pretty fair for a Central London location.

Breakfast, which was included, was very pleasing to the eye, and plentiful with a lot to choose from, but the cooked breakfast wasn't cooked particularly well, although you could have as much as you wanted. As I was leaving one of the Managers was inspecting it, and didn't seem too pleased with it either, and if I was one of the chefs, I would probably rectify that straight away, because he didn't look the sort to be messed with!
