A Shoot London Treasure Map is a great way to explore some of the best parts of London while solving clues and taking photos of the answers. You can upload your photos on the Shoot Experience website and enter a photography competition.

Shoot Experience

Shoot Experience organize regular team photography events around London where teams are given clues and set out to find the answers and photograph their results. At the end the teams can compare their photos with other groups and a winner is judged and announced. These events are always popular so they have come with the Shoot London Treasure Map so you can try the idea without being restricted by dates and times.

What Do You Get?
The Shoot London Treasure Map pack comprises of a simplified foldout map of the South Bank, Bankside and The City with cryptic treasure hunt clues and a fun wallet with a compass. Is that all you say? Well that's enough to get you started but the real added bonus here is that the price covers entry to the annual Shoot Experience photography competition, plus the chance to have your photographs exhibited in a London gallery. The cost also includes a 15% discount on entrance to the Golden Hinde.

What If I Can't Solve The Clues?

Well this is rather crucial to the whole thing, isn't it? As a Londoner I had no problems naming the London landmarks but I have shown the maps to visitors to London and they were able to solve the clues by using the key to the map as the small pictures help.

If you buy the Shoot London Treasure Map and want to start immediately then just ask a local to help with the answers. If you buy the map in advance and want to plan your route carefully then you could check the cheat sheet on the Shoot Experience website.

Planning Your Route
There's nothing to stop you wandering off and seeing where you end up but it can be nice to have a little structure to your route so you don't get too tired before the end. A couple of useful websites are:

Which London Landmarks Will I See?
The treasure map covers the South Bank, Bankside and The City so you could see:

What Sort of Photos Shall I Take?
Once the clues have been solved and you have discovered the destinations on the map, take creative photos to show your own unique viewpoint of the city for as many or as few of these popular landmarks as you choose.

What Do I Do After?
At the end of a fun day taking photographs of London, you can upload your photos to the Shoot Experience website. All photos will be judged at the end of the year and prizes awarded for the most creative photos. A special exhibition of commended photos will open in early 2010.

I'm Not A Professional Photographer. Can I Join In?
Absolutely! The Shoot London Treasure map is meant to be a fun way to get people out taking photos of London. No experience is necessary.

The treasure hunt is best with at least one other person and very much recommended for families with children during the holidays, friends at the weekend, and a way for visitors to explore London in a more interactive way.

How Much & Where From?
The Shoot London Treasure Map is £9.95 and is available from Tate Modern and many other shops along the South Bank.
