The Strand Palace Hotel is a great central London location close to Trafalgar Square. It has a fascinating history over the past 100 years and has benefited from a multi-million pound enhancement program.
Excellent For Single Travelers
The hotel is large with over 800 rooms but around half are single rooms which means they can offer great rates when you are traveling alone. The single rooms still have all you would expect including a desk for working which makes them popular with business travelers.
I also saw the larger Executive Rooms and these were comparable with rooms from London 4 star hotels so would be worth saving on room cost and staying at this 3 star hotel.
Location
The hotel is opposite The Savoy and five minutes walk from Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden. It's a great base for visitors to London as you can easily walk to many attractions. No A/C
Probably the biggest complaint from overseas visitors is the fact the hotel has no air-conditioning which could be a problem in the height of summer. Every room has a fan that can be plugged in around the room and most UK visitors can cope fine with this.Wifi
Wifi is free for 30 minutes but there's a fee after that which is a shame but quite normal in London hotels.Dining Options
The hotel has five locations for eating in from a cafe to the Lounge Bar and the popular Johnston's Brasserie which serves well-priced pre-theatre meal deals. I've enjoyed afternoon tea at the Strand Palace Hotel which is, again, incredibly well-priced.Address:
