Guide Review - Mandalay - Restaurant Review

Reader review submitted 2008:
This no frills Burmese restaurant on vibrant Edgware Road really hit our lunch cravings. There were five of us dining here and once we sat down at one of the 12 tables, we knew we were in for a treat. We ordered a good selection of food - veggie spring rolls (my 2 year old loved them), calabash, fried rice, chicken with mushrooms, chili king prawns, noodles with chicken and veggies, and a couple banana fritters.

We ordered the food from the somewhat annoyed waitress and the food came to our table steamy hot and full of flavor. The chicken was moist, the veggies fresh and the spiciness of each dish was just right. While the menu description of each dish was basic, the flavors of each were distinct and memorable.

We noticed the other diner's dishes and it made me want to order what they were having too. I asked one woman who was eating the dozen ingredient soup if it was good and she said she dined there every couple of weeks to satisfy her soup needs. The five of us promised each other that we'd just have to come back to Mandalay to order the other dishes!
