Guide Review - Busaba Eathai Wardour Street

Restaurant review submitted by G.S.:

Absolutely the most awful experience I have ever had!

Greeted by a blank stare from at least 3 waiters, as I pointed out that there were two of us, as if it wasn't blindingly obvious, they told us that someone would be with us in a while as they continued to stare off into the middle distance.

When we were eventually pointed towards our table which were shared with 5 other parties, it was a squash to fit.

After being hit on the head by my starter, I thought, ok, well this isn't the nicest place, maybe I wont come back, but then I inspected said starter..."prawn pomello" there was no prawns and absolutely no pomello, very disappointing.

Being an optimist, I did hope the main course would be better, but alas no. What I asked for was a tom yam soup...what I actually got was verging on barbeque chicken ramen....which, to put it nicely, wasn’t the freshest or the safest to eat. The food is far from authentic, bland, watered down, considerable skimping on spices.

After we had our bowls swiftly taken away, and we were still finishing our drinks, we were asked how long we would be! I was incredibly polite and said 10 minutes at most; I think this is fair enough. 1 minute later we were asked to drink up and leave as they needed our table! This has never happened to me before so I didn’t know what to say!! I didn’t want to cause a scene so we paid; they took our money, and never brought back our change. We were rudely ushered out the door; I think it’s safe to say we shall never go back. Pretentious and overrated, if you like that kind of thing then this place is for you.
