The Horniman Museum has teamed up with the BBC to bring us the Walking with Beasts exhibition from 10 February 2007. Do you want to know which species evolved after the dinosaurs died out? Horniman Museum Director, Janet Vitmayer says, "The incredible thing is that some of these creatures were roaming around London, before London even existed! British scientists are using the fossil remains of these mammals to find out how they adapted to changes in the climate 400,000 years ago. This research could improve the way we predict climate changes and also give us a better understanding of how mammals, including humans, might respond to global warming."
The exhibition brings these incredible creatures to life using a range of interactives, including the chance to watch yourself in a prehistoric landscape via blue-screen technology. The exhibition is complemented by a selection of items from the Horniman Museum's Natural History collection, including a 10,000 year old mammoth tusk.
