The Stockpot

By Laura Porter, About.com

About The Stockpot:
The Stockpot is a no frills chain of cheap eateries. Expect hearty and wholesome dishes with generous portions yet at budget prices.

There are daily specials and a hand-written menu with a large choice of appetizers, salads, main dishes, and desserts. Look out for the English warming 'stodge' of rhubarb crumble and custard, or roast beef stew.

They don't take credit cards so bring cash. And they don't take reservations so just turn up early if you fancy a pre-theater meal.

The Stockpot is always busy so be prepared to share a table and maybe make new friends. The service is quick and unpretentious.

Children are welcome but be aware the restaurants are small so don't bring big bags.
