Masters Super Fish

Masters Super Fish is close to The Old Vic Theatre and the Imperial War Museum. The restaurant may not look nice but the food is good quality and the portions are massive. The fish comes daily from London's Billingsgate Fish Market. Eat in the restaurant and you'll receive complimentary prawns and pickles.

I recommend arriving early for dinner as at 4.30pm I had the place to myself but calls were coming in thick and fast for table reservations.

The restaurant seats about 40 and is popular with locals and visitors to London.

I had an enormous plate of chips and a cup of tea for £3.50. The chips were light and fluffy and freshly cooked, and there weren't too many 'crispy bits'.

I liked the way the tomato sauce and mayonnaise (a consideration for visitors as not popular with Londoners) were served in prawn cocktail dishes and a spoon. I thought that was a nice touch.

The staff were friendly, even when they were busy and I found my meal a pleasant break from the London rain.
