The Bottom Line
A real insight into the tradition of afternoon tea and the immense preparation undertaken by The Ritz London, plus the history of afternoon tea and tea drinking in general.
Gave me lots of ideas to try such as 'striped sandwiches' (simply alternative brown and white sliced bread) and sandwich fillings such as 'The Ritz's special egg sandwiches' and 'English Rabbit' which is mostly cheese and no rabbit.

- Not the best illustrations - simple line drawings but quite charming
Description
- Hardcover, 64 pages.
- Book size: 16.8 x 16 x 1.4 cm
- Literary quotes scattered throughout, including Oscar Wilde and Charles Dickens.
- Plenty of recipes.
Guide Review - The Ritz London Book of Afternoon Tea
If you want to know the difference between afternoon tea and high tea, plus how to make English specialities such as crumpets and Victoria Sponge Cake, as well as jam-making tips, then this is the book for you.
I've enjoyed afternoon tea many times yet I learned more about tea from the 'Directory of Teas' in this book. I didn't know Orange Pekoes only referred to the size of the tea leaves (larger leaf), not to their flavor or quality.
And I now know how to make the perfect cup of tea and how not to stew tea in the future.
