New Furniture Gallery at the V&A

Due to open in December 2012, The Victoria & Albert Museum will have a new permanent Furniture Gallery. The museum has an internationally renowned furniture collection but the pieces have always been displayed in other galleries. This addition will be the only gallery worldwide devoted to a comprehensive display of furniture, telling the story of its production across six centuries.

There will be more than 200 pieces of British and European furniture, from the Middle Ages to the present day, as well as examples of American and Asian furniture. It will focus on questions of form, function, and techniques of construction and decoration, in the creation of furniture for over six hundred years.

I'm really looking forward to visiting the V&A again soon. I fell in love with the current Hollywood Costume exhibition and, of course, the V&A is Fantastically Family-Friendly.
