This isn't a book listing fancy gardens full of completely unobtainable ideas to the average gardener. No, The London Garden Book A-Z reminds us how much gardens and gardening mean to city dwellers.Abigail Willis's excellent research includes the conservatory used in the Beatles 1966 'Paperback Writer' pop promo and the street garden classed as a rooftop garden as it is on top of an underground car park. There's also practical advice from those who garden professionally and for enjoyment including how and why to build an insect hotel.
I've now got a long list of places to visit including the home of the RHS Spring Shows until 1911 before it moved to Chelsea and became known as the annual RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Christmas is too far off so treat yourself to this book now as it's a truly enjoyable read for anyone who has enjoyed a flower bed in passing or who tends their plants daily. Read my full review of The London Garden Book A-Z.
