I love the tradition of London's Pearly Kings and Queens so I recommend going to St. Paul's Church in Covent Garden for the Pearly Kings and Queens Harvest Festival on the 2nd Sunday in October. This year's date is Sunday 14 October 2012 and the church is just behind where the street performers work in Covent Garden piazza. Meet at 10am for some great photo opportunities before the 11am church service. The history of the Pearly Families dates back to 1875 and their aim is to raise money for charity and the Harvest Festival is their flagship event where they look their best.
They are all wonderful people who are happy to speak to anyone who wants to say hello. I had a lot of fun dancing with them to the music of the Royal British Legion band. See photos and find out where else you can see the Pearly Kings and Queens regularly... Image: © Laura Porter | London Travel Blog
