The Chap Olympiad is a hilarious annual event held in July in London. Some of the unusual 'sports' have included the Three Trousered Limbo, Cucumber Sandwich Discus and Pipe Smoker's Relay, all in the hope of going home with the coveted gold cravat. This year the event is on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 July 2012 and continues into the night, with music, entertainment, and cocktails.
The Chap Olympiad seeks to celebrate specifically British qualities, such as the excessive drinking of dry martinis before lunch, the wearing of monocles, the smoking of pipes and the maintenance of an immaculate crease in one's trousers despite having tripped over a Basset Hound on the way to the pavilion. All of the events are designed to test competitors' levels of panache, elegance and savoir-faire, as a cheerful alternative to watching our nation's hopeless attempts to compete on the world stage in sports such as soccer and cricket.

I would give my left arm to see the Chap Olympiad in person!!! It sounds like great fun with everyone really winning for the comradery and enjoyment of a tongue-in-cheek look at “everything British!”
Hold onto those limbs Dee and come another year! Yes, it’s terribly British and shows how good we are at laughing at ourselves.
