Staybridge Suites London Stratford City and Holiday Inn London Stratford City have a great location right next to Westfield Stratford City shopping mall and overlooking the London 2012 Olympic Park. While Staybridge Suites and Holiday Inn are in the same building, and are both part of Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG), they were designed as two properties and cater for different markets. Staybridge Suites is intended as a second home for business travelers, Holiday Inn caters for the leisure market and short-term holiday-makers. Both hotels benefit from excellent transport links nearby including Stratford International Rail Station, Underground and DLR.
Holiday Inn is also managing the 11 residential blocks for the 17,000 world class athletes at the London 2012 Athletes' Village and this is the first time a hotel company has been chosen for this responsibility. The Athletes' Village needs to feel like a home from home so it makes sense to have a hotel company who are experts in hospitality. Denise Lewis, the IHG Ambassador and veteran Olympian, said "comfort and attention to detail" are what the athletes need, and so they can focus on their job it's important "someone is taking care of you".
The media launch for the two properties included a special performance by Frankie Jones, rhythmic gymnast and five times British Champion. She'll be competing in the Olympic Games on 9 and 10 August so let's wish her luck!
I stayed at Staybridge Suites London Stratford City and was surprised how quiet the rooms are considering the hotel is right next to a major transport hub. And I loved waking up and seeing the Olympic Stadium from my bed! Please read my Staybridge Suites London Stratford City Review. Image: © IHG | London Travel Blog
