I told you back in November about the Free Tea open House Events run by teanamu and I've returned to try the Tea Cookery Theatre. While not being a major foodie I do love tea and was fascinated to discover how tea can be used for more than just a cuppa.Pei Wang is the man behind this innovative young company and he explained to the small group about flavors, ingredients and even Chinese and Japanese translations and shopping tips. We tried a tea broth, noodles, jelly, sorbet and more. He creates the kind of food that looks like artwork but he made it look so simple I feel confident enough to try it at home. I've got all the recipes and I bought some Matcha powder so I must give it a go soon and impress my friends and family.
Chaya Teanamu Teahouse Opening Soon
From 26 February 2011, teanamu will be open regularly on the weekends and I'd recommend booking ahead as it will be popular. There will be tea cuisine available as well as a wide variety of teas giving you the chance to enjoy a Chinese tea ceremony in a peaceful environment and leave your troubles at the door.
teanamu teas are also available at the popular Bea's of Bloomsbury as are Tea Appreciation classes which should help to spread the word about this small specialist company.
