Parrot in Kensington Gardens

Tuesday June 30, 2009
I was in Kensington Gardens this morning taking photos and I saw this parrot flying freely. I presume someone has lost their pet!

I'll be back there tomorrow to see Peter Pan so I'll let you know if this parrot is a park resident. Image: © Laura Porter | London Travel Blog | Follow AboutLondon on Twitter

Hi Laura,
What you saw was a rose-ringed parakeet which, believe it or not, is now considered a naturalised feral species in the UK according to this BBC article. Apparently there are thousands spreading up from South London. Enjoy Peter Pan.
