World's Hottest Pizza?

Bella Italia are hoping to create the UK's hottest pizza this month and will be submitting the recipe to the Guinness World Records for verification as the world's hottest pizza. The Pizza Calabria is topped with scorching hot njuda sausage from the southern Italian region of Calabria. The locally produced sausage is made with hot chilli peppers and is left to mature for the ultimate fiery kick. The pizza also comes loaded with roasted red peppers, red onions and cheese.

For those brave enough, an extra hot version, the Pizza Calabria Volcanica, is available with green chilli peppers and extra spicy arrabiatta sauce.

To encourage people to put their taste buds to the test, complimentary glasses of milk will be served with the pizza.

The man behind the hot pizza, Vittorio Lettieri, reckons if we like it hot we should forget curries and head to Bella Italia. He agrees "it's not for the fainthearted" and suggested "the side effects can include a numb tongue and watering eyes but it tastes great and beats a vindaloo any day."
