Swedish Waffle Day at Fika

Waffle Day, or Våffeldagen, traditionally falls on 25 March in Sweden, and heralds the beginning of Spring. It is Swedish custom to welcome the season change by serving waffles all day, including for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fika will celebrate this long established tradition with a Waffle Week event, starting on Monday 23 March and ending in a timely manner when the clocks go forward one hour on Sunday 29 March.

Expect to see an extra special menu of heart shaped waffles, served with a huge assortment of toppings both sweet and savoury, starting at £3.90. Caramel or chocolate sauce provide a sweet option, with creamy cheeses, reindeer salami(!) and salmon gravladax a savoury alternative, for example. Did I say reindeer? Yes, I did.
