World's Smallest Police Station
Monday February 16, 2009
In the southeast corner of Trafalgar Square, unnoticed by most visitors, is the World's Smallest Police Station. There's only room for one inside and these days it is used as a storage room by the cleaners.Trafalgar Square has always been a center for protests so the tiny police station was built into the original plans as a lookout post so the authorities could keep a check on the many marches and protests.

Hmmmm … I would not rate it as a police STATION as such, though. It is definitely more reminiscent of those police call boxes that used to be around British cities (and in Doctor Who these days).
In fact, Immanuel Burton identifies it as such … see http://www.burton25a.force9.co.uk/policeboxes/pboxhist.htm
An oddity nonetheless … and apologies for nitpicking!
Bernd, I too thought ’station’ was being used liberally but I read about this place in David Long’s Spectacular Vernacular where he refers to it as a ’station’.
Either way, it’s so easy to miss. I must have walked past it a million times and didn’t know it was there. Even when I went to take a photo I stood next to it and couldn’t see it!
Bernd, never be afraid to ‘nitpick’ here. I love your comments!
This is not the world’s smallest police station. infact, the WORLDS smallest police station exist in carabelle florida,

Hmmm…Ridgeway, SC has what was a honest-to-goodness working policestation – not just a place for cops to get out of the rain.
