250th Anniversary of Burns Night

Burns Night is held annually on or around January 25th to mark the birthday of the Scottish bard Robert Burns. Robert Burns, or Rabbie, is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland. He died of a heart condition on July 21st 1796, aged 37.To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Burns Night Talisker single malt Scotch whisky is hosting the biggest ever celebration with over 500 Talisker Burns Night events taking place at pubs and clubs across the UK. The events will combine fun and tradition with good food and drink to create a great Burns Night atmosphere. Those attending will also have the chance to toast the great bard with a unique limited edition Talisker tipping glass. The nautical themed design allows the glass to tip on its side without spilling a drop of your favourite dram, perfect for hundreds of visitors who sail to the Talisker distillery on the shores of the Isle of Skye every year.
The Talisker Burns Nights will be the largest organized celebration of Burns Night in the UK and reflects the growth in popularity of this celebration in recent years. Over two million drams of whisky are expected to be drunk on Burns Night alone and the demand for haggis in England has been so great that supermarkets now stock the Scottish delicacy all year round.
