Fashion and Textile Museum

Monday April 21, 2008
Fashion and Textile Museum is a center for contemporary fashion, textiles and jewelry in London. Founded by iconic British designer Zandra Rhodes, and operated by Newham College, the museum houses permanent and changing exhibitions.

Peacocks and Pinstripes ends on 31 May 2008 and is a "snapshop of masculine style" - Getty Images photos of male icons. It would have been nice if some clothing could have been included but this is the first exhibition the museum has held since their renovations. It's still an enjoyable exhibition, if a little steep at £7.00 for a ticket. I'm interested in the next exhibition starting in June -- The Little Black Dress -- as there's a lot to be said about such a staple part of every woman's wardrobe.

Building work was still going on when I visited but hopefully the cafe will be open before the new exhibition opens. It'll serve organic hot and cold lunches and I think, along with the fabuous shop which showcases new designers, will become popular in their own right.
