4th Annual Russian Winter Festival

Location: Trafalgar Square
The Russian Winter Festival is a free event in Trafalgar Square offering a taste of Russia with traditional and contemporary music and entertainment. It marks Russia's 'Old New Year'. (New Year according to the Tsarist calendar which was used prior to 1917, and which is still celebrated in Russia in mid-January.)
Expect to try blinis (Russian pancakes) and pirozhkis (Russian pies), borsch (beetroot soup) and shashlik (Russian kebabs), as well as genuine Russian beer and steaming tea urns.
For Children:
Russian street games and puppet theater, wandering street entertainers, and musicians.
Shoppers:
If you're finding to hard to be away from the winter sales, you can shop for unique Russian trinkets and souvenirs and find out how to plan that once in a lifetime trip to the homeland of the hosts.
Evening Entertainment:
When the sun sets, the chiming New Year bells announce the evening entertainment of trapeze dances to laser shows, and projections to army choirs and dancing cadet bands.

- Dima Bilan (pop star - headline act)
- Alisa (legendary Russian rock band)
- Fabrika (Russian pop group formed during the making of the popular Russian show Star Factory)
- Slavyanye (professional folk group)
- Baikal (24-person dance group and 15-person singing group)
- Lyudmila Ryumina (Russian folk singer)
