Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park
Saturday November 24, 2007
Winter Wonderland is London's largest open-air ice rink this holiday season. Covering 1400 m˛ and accommodating 400 skaters at any one time, the rink will be created with 130,000 liters of frozen water, weighing 130 tonnes, and kept frozen by 13km of piping. It's going to be sooo romantic as it is set in the natural beauty of Hyde Park, beneath thousands of Christmas lights high in the trees. Winter Wonderland opens on 1 December 2007 for five weeks, closing on 6 January 2008 (the twelfth day of Christmas). It's open 10am-10pm daily and welcomes skaters of all levels.
As well as the huge ice rink you'll find ice café bars, a traditional children's carousel, helter-skelter and rides; and a giant Big Wheel plus lots of free festive entertainment. There'll be traditional food and mulled wine and a German Christmas Fair to do some Christmas shopping and enjoy the atmosphere of the festive season. The bandstand will feature regular carol concerts and, when time allows, even Santa himself is scheduled to make an appearance in the run-up to Christmas. The Winter Wonderland site is free to enter and tokens for all rides and attractions available for purchase. You can book tickets at: www.hydeparkwinterwonderland.com

Click on the link in the blog and it takes you to a page with more details and the location. Or click here and see the travel details on the official web site. (Click ‘OK’ to the message that appears.) The nearest tube station is Hyde Park Corner and it’s all happening on Serpentine Road but don’t worry it’s huge so you won’t miss it!
