New at London Zoo
Friday March 30, 2007
Gorilla Kingdom
Gorilla Kingdom officially opens today (30 March 2007) but the gorillas, as well as the other animals that share the space – such as colobus monkeys, rainforest birds, and monitor lizards - have been settling in to their new habitat for a few weeks. The gorilla have been 'off show' until today.
Clore Rainforest Lookout
This major redevelopment project will also open at Easter, with an official launch in May 2007. The small mammals building is being transformed with a new translucent roof over the large central exhibit where we will be able to see South American monkeys and birds. Visitors will be able to walk around this space with unrestricted views of the tiny tamarins and marmosets as they leap between the tree-top branches. Other animals like sloths, iguanas, and agoutis will also share this space. London Zoo hopes the Clore Rainforest Lookout will really bring to life the experience of being an animal in the rainforest for younger visitors.
