Check For Planned Engineering Works On The Tube

By January 31, 2007

Follow me on:

I keep getting caught out by not checking if there are any planned engineering works on the tube at the weekends. The London Underground system dates back to 1863 when the world's first underground railway opened in London so it really does need some maintenance. Even though the tube does not run 24 hours there is not enough time for major repairs to be done overnight so many lines need to close, in sections or in full, at the weekend. To find out about planned engineering works check the Transport for London web site.

You know that the website for planned engineering works is not working? Than how am I supposed to know which lines are working and which not? Or do I have to guess?

Hi, I’ve just checked and the TfL site is working again. If the direct link plays up again just got othe TfL (Transport for London) homepage at: http://www.tfl.gov.uk where you can see a link to the ‘Service Updates. If you’re in London and can’t get to the Internet you can also call TfL on 020 7222 1234 for the same updates.

Sorry you had problems with the Journey Planner site. I’ve just checked and can report King’s Cross is closed to Northern Line trains on 19 & 20 Dec so to get from Waterloo to King’s Cross you’ll need to take the Bakerloo Line to Oxford Circus and change to the Victoria Line to King’s Cross. It’ll take about 20 minutes. Extra good news is there are no steps at the Oxford Circus interchange as you simply cross platforms on the same level.

I hope this helps.
