Hoppé's London - Photographic Exhibition
Monday September 18, 2006
Hoppé's London is a photographic exhibition at the Michael Hoppen Gallery in Chelsea. Hoppé's London showcases German-born Emil Otto Hoppé's photographs of London taken between 1910 and 1945. During these 35 years, Hoppe documented the changes London was undertaking by photographing people and iconic landmarks. I love the photographs of the people as they seem so natural and not posed as the fashion was at the time. I was surprised to see pictures of black and white men talking happily (considering the racial tension to follow years later) as well as circus performers in London.
