Terrorist Plot Foiled-Travel Chaos at London Heathrow Airport

Thursday August 10, 2006
A plot by terrorists to blow up planes from London to the USA has been stopped by UK police. The plan involved using a liquid taken onboard as hand luggage. Therefore, only minimal hand luggage is allowed onboard and what you are allowed to carry must be put in a clear plastic bag. There is travel chaos at all London airports, but Heathrow is suffering the most. They have asked for all flights coming into Heathrow to be suspended, if not already in the air. A spokesmen for BAA, the company who owns Heathrow Airport, has asked that people only travel to Heathrow today is their journey is essential. If you can travel another day, please do. Full details can be found on the Heathrow Airport web site.

I hope this doesn't spoil your holiday plans too much. Remember, this is all for our safety - nobody wants you to miss a flight. I was due to meet friends from the US today but I guess I'll be seeing them another day. It's best just to accept the situation and not get too stressed. If you were due to fly home today, see it as a way to enjoy London for a bit longer. Call your airline, and don't travel to the airports today. Enjoy your extended holiday.

im glad that some journalists takes time to also see the positive side of the situation and alsoencourage others to think in the same way. Im sure nobody likes to have fltsdelayed or cxld but at instead of focusing on the negative situation we should see that thse are really for our own good to be safe and just try our best to make the most of the situation. Thanks laura!!
