The Art Collection Few Get to See
Saturday April 22, 2006
You'd think that an art collection with 7,000 paintings and 30,000 drawings and watercolors, not to mention half a million prints, would be drawing visitors from around the world. But in this case not, because it's the 'private' collection of the royal family. Surely it's something the nation (and all the tourists who flock here) ought to be able to see? Charlotte Higgins of The Guardian takes up the issue... saying "Among those thousands of works are extraordinary old masters ... No wonder Prince William studied art history at university, with this kind of study collection back home."
