Nelson’s Column to be Restored

Don’t be surprised to see hoarding going up around the base of Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square over the next few weeks as this is preparation for this year’s cleaning and restoration starting in July 2006. Nelson’s Column needs regular cleaning due to the pigeons in Trafalgar Square, but it has only received full restoration twice since being erected in 1843.
